I write scripts, so this may sound bizarre: if I turn off the sound and the message is immediately clear, then the video's successful. And some of the scripts that I've written have no spoken content - no narration, talking heads, or words on the screen. If what you need to convey can be shown without telling, it's a scriptwriter's dream (and you won't have to pay a narrator).
